Canadians are Buying Cars Online
The automotive software company, Dealersocket, says that 33% of consumers would like the opportunity to purchase cars online but how many people do it?
Online shopping has skyrocketed in the past five years, with Amazon going as far as creating an Amazon Key to unlock your vehicle and put the package in it for you. While this approach is a bit evasive, many consumers want as little to do with going into the store as possible.
Car shopping is traditionally done inside a car dealership with a salesperson but recent trends have shown people are more likely to do a large amount of vehicle research beforehand. Many consumers know exactly what they want and how much they are willing to pay before they even walk through the dealership’s doors.
Shoppers are familiar with browsing online stores or negotiating with people on Facebook Marketplace. When you are negotiating with a private seller, they may not be in the position to answer all your questions. When you speak to a dealership, they have large teams of experts to answer any question. Their expertise is not exclusive to in-person visits and is more than happy to answer questions over any platform, even Facebook!
So the question is “why aren’t people buying their cars online?” This could be for one of two reasons.
The first reason most people don’t buy cars online is because of the high dollar amount. We all know the feeling of loading up your online shopping cart, only to be discouraged by the price. There is also the question of security. Is it safe to buy a car online?
Because CROWN Toyota has a storefront, as a consumer you know we are a legitimate business. You can even view our Google reviews to read how others have experienced working with this dealership. As one of Winnipeg’s largest automotive groups, they are well established in their community. When it comes to the buying process, you still need to come to the dealership and pick your vehicle up. Just like with any vehicle purchase, you can always decide against purchasing. The money you are paying online is only the deposit, the same thing you put down when you are at the our Winnipeg Toyota dealership. By choosing to do your deposit online, you are skipping one extra step.
The second reason people choose not to buy online is for tangible experience. Driving is the best part of car ownership. Sitting in the driver’s seat for the first time is a sensual experience for many people.
If you desire that connection with a vehicle before you take the leap and purchase, your test drive can even be set up online! Pick a time, date, and vehicle and our team will have everything ready for you when you walk through our doors.
Winnipeg may not be ready to send wire transfers for a vehicle they just saw on Instagram, but our team is ready to make car ownership easy for you however you choose to do it.
